Mission Statement
Founded in 2005 by Pastor Bruce Hood — himself a living testimony of redemption from addiction, incarceration, and a life on the margins — Feed My Sheep Ministries is an inner-city outreach and church community planted intentionally in one of Fresno’s most underserved neighborhoods. We are located at 117 E. Lemon Ave. not in spite of the surrounding gang activity and poverty, but because of it.
We believe the Gospel is not a Sunday-only message. It is food on the table. It is a job that restores dignity. It is a glove instead of a gun. It is a baptism at the lake with your family watching. Rooted in the words of Jesus in John 21:17 — “Feed my sheep” — we are called to nourish the whole person.
We serve through:
- Food Ministry — A food warehouse and soup kitchen providing free meals and groceries to families and individuals, including those struggling with addiction and poverty.
- Gang & Drug Intervention — Boxing programs, community events, and mentorship that offer real alternatives to gang life, particularly for youth who are targeted for recruitment as young as age six.
- Job Training & Placement — Employment assistance and vocational programs that help individuals on parole, probation, and in recovery rebuild their lives.
- Residential Recovery — Three recovery homes accommodating up to 22 men in treatment for alcohol and drug dependency.
- Church & Discipleship — Sunday worship, Bible study, and faith-based community anchoring every outreach in the truth of the Gospel.
- Community Events — Car shows, block parties, baptisms, and family activities that build belonging and draw people toward hope.
We do not wait for the broken to find us. We go to them.
Feed My Sheep Ministries
The Church is located at 117 E. Lemon Ave. Fresno, Ca. 93706 where it is one of the highest watched programs in the neighborhood for gang activity. Gangs here recruit kids as early as the age of six. Were surrounded by five of the most deadliest gangs in Fresno who have encamped out in our neighborhood. The Modoc boys, Fairway, Strother, Southerners, and Bulldogs live in this area and the church is purposefully located in the center of this area. The purpose of the church is to meet the needs of the community, Spiritually, Physically, Mentally, and Emotionally. The church has a soup and sandwich kitchen providing a free hot meal, especially to those enslaved by gang and drug activity.
One day I was in the front of the church raking the yard and a neighbor lady in her mid-sixties walked by and went into the house next door. When she came out, she stopped and talked with me in a very happy manner. She was carrying a bag in her hand and she said “Every month, my social security check runs out and I don’t have any money to buy food. The people in that house always help me with food for the rest of the month.” Right then, I knew that God was saying open up the back of the church for a feeding kitchen, and that’s what we did.
